Elite Metalcraft requested patterns for some decorative cast iron panels. These boxless set-ups were created from the original castings.
2 sizes of panel were required. The larger patterns are pictured above. An additional shorter panel was also made.
The handrail (left) has to be made separately from each panel. This boxless set up (2 patterns) can make 2 handrails.
Each panel requires 2 patterns, a front and a back, that can be sandwiched together.
Once the patterns have been used by the foundry (East Coast Casting) to create the final cast iron product (pictured right), they are ready for finishing in the Fettling shop - a process where they trim or clean the rough edges of the metal casting.
